Atlanta Track Club Open Team

About

Atlanta Track Club's Open Team is an inclusive group of competitive athletes united in our desire to reach our individual potential through continuous improvement. The Open Team welcomes post-collegiate distance runners of all genders under the age of 40 who look to progress and improve as they compete in local and regional road racing, cross country and track and field competitions. Our Open Team members share a love of the sport and demonstrate a commitment to preparation, camaraderie and competition. We work hard, support our teammates and competitors and have fun while pursuing individual and team success. We are Atlanta Track Club!

Who Can Join

Atlanta Track Club's Open Team is for athletes of all abilities that are serious about setting personal bests with a desire to compete locally, regionally, and sometimes nationally. We welcome runners who are committed to reflecting the diversity of both Atlanta and the larger athletics community. All participants must be members of Atlanta Track Club, agree to the policies found in the team handbook, commit to volunteering with the Club, and uphold the values of the organization. Additionally, we follow the formal rules set forth by USATF and World Athletics regarding eligibility.

Any Atlanta Track Club member within the required age range of 19-39 can join. Whether the goal is to win your age group or the overall race, if you train and race hard this team is for you. Typical members include former high school and college athletes and local road warriors.

Team members receive the following benefits including but not limited to group coaching and practices, complimentary entries into select Atlanta Track Club events, a team uniform, potential travel/competition support, and adidas footwear discounts.

Athletes above the age range or specifically focused on track and field should see Atlanta Track Club's Masters Teams for more information.

If you are interested in joining the Open Team, please take a moment to reach out to a Team Captain to introduce yourself. Please include your name, age, and a brief background including your preferred events and recent performances

Beliefs

Atlanta Track Club strongly believes that the future of athletics is grounded in a robust competitive environment featuring local clubs and local athletes. As a result, our Open Team is primarily made up of Atlantans and Georgians who train and compete together. Athletes in border states with a history of Atlanta Track Club membership, Atlanta residency, or other connections are also eligible to join. Athletes that do not have a local club with a competitive team may have the opportunity to join. All volunteer expectations are still required for athletes residing outside of Georgia. Please email the Performance Programming Director with any questions about eligibility.

Practices and Competitions

Travel & Competitions

Most open long distance athletes focus on Atlanta Track Club and other road racing events, club cross country, and select regional or national competitions. Athletes often travel together to share expenses. Some athletes qualify for limited travel support based on meeting volunteer expectations. More information can be found in the team handbook.

Standards

There are no performance standards to join the team; however, most members are competitive in an overall race or in their age groups and all are focused on personal improvement.
