ATLANTA - SEPTEMBER 26, 2023 - One of Atlanta's favorite 5K road races
is back. Registration for the annual Mercedes-Benz Stadium
5K/Walk Like MADD is now open. The race will take place on November 11. All
runners and walkers will get the unique experience of running out of the tunnel
at Mercedes-Benz Stadium, home to the NFL's Atlanta Falcons, and Atlanta United
of MLS. The race will take participants around the downtown area and will
culminate at the center of Mercedes-Benz Stadium's field. Proceeds benefit the
mission of Mothers Against Drunk Driving Georgia to put an end to drinking and
driving.
"We are honored to partner with the
Atlanta Track Club and Mercedes-Benz Stadium, as well as The Atlanta Falcons
and Atlanta United, on this year's 5K walk/run event. ", says Jill Arrington,
Regional Executive Director, MADD Georgia/Alabama. "The Walk Like MADD program
is the signature event for Mothers Against Drunk Driving, where we raise awareness
and funds to end drunk driving and eliminate drugged driving on our roads. It
is through wonderful and supportive partnerships such as this one where we as a
community, as walkers and runners, can support MADD's lifesaving mission to
keep our families and communities safe."
Organized by local non-profit, Atlanta Track Club, the
Mercedes-Benz Stadium 5K/Walk Like MADD also features a one mile distance for
all ages. There is a 50-meter dash for kids six and under that will take place
on the field. Participants are encouraged to wear their Falcons or United gear
to the race where they will warm up with Freddie Falcon, challenge themselves
on the roads of downtown Atlanta and the West Side and experience America's
most innovative sports stadium in a way most fans never dream. After crossing
the finish line, all will be invited to remember and honor victims of drunk
driving and learn more about the work MADD does in Georgia and across the
country.
All finishers will receive a limited edition commemorative T-shirt and medal. New in 2023, the Mercedes-Benz Stadium 5K/Walk Like MADD is the final race of Atlanta Track Club's ATL Fit Fan Series. Participants who also completed this year's Hawks Fast Break 5K presented by Sharecare and Braves Country 5K presented by Southwire will earn an additional commemorative medal celebrating their accomplishment and featuring four of Atlanta's professional sports teams.
Registration is open now
