This college scholarship is awarded annually to a male metro-Atlanta high school graduating senior cross country and/or track and field student-athlete. The scholarship is named after Hawthorne Wesley, one of the founding members of Atlanta Track Club, and honors his dedication to the sport for 50+ years.
Applications can be completed by a student-athlete or in support of a student-athlete.
Requirements:
- Must be a male metro-Atlanta high school graduating senior student athlete
- Athletic activities must include cross country and/or track & field
- Competitive success in cross country and/or track & field with plans to participate in college
- Good academic standing
- Financial need
- Athletes are eligible if they live in the All-Metro Area and are in good standing with their school. The All-Metro area is defined as counties that touch Fulton, Dekalb, Cobb, and Clayton counties which lie within the perimeter of Atlanta. Students who attend a school in the defined Metro area are eligible to be selected. Counties are as follows: Bartow, Carroll, Cherokee, Clayton, Cobb, Coweta, DeKalb, Douglas, Fayette, Forsyth, Fulton, Gwinnett, Henry, Paulding, Rockdale and Spaulding
Winners will be invited to and announced at the Powerade All-Metro Track & Field Banquet in June each year.
Note: Scholarship funds will be paid directly to the college/university of the winner.
