ATLANTA - November 6, 2019 - Following the conclusion of the Georgia cross country season this past weekend, Atlanta Track Club has named the area's top 42 runners to the 2019 Powerade All-Metro High School Cross Country Team. The Club announced the 21 boys and 21 girls selected for the team today, continuing its tradition of honoring the metro Atlanta area's standout runners for the 55th straight year. The athletes represent 28 schools across 11 counties.
"The Club is excited every fall to welcome a new group of Georgia's best runners to the rich history of the Club's All-Metro teams," said Rich Kenah, Atlanta Track Club's Executive Director. "We're looking forward to honoring these young stars that showcase the depth and breadth of running talent here in Running City USA."
The Club will announce the first, second and third teams at the 2019 Powerade All-Metro Cross Country Banquet, to be held on Tuesday, December 3 at the Stave Room in Midtown Atlanta. The 14 athletes selected to the first team will each receive a $500 scholarship. At the banquet, the Club will also showcase the top five moments of the 2019 cross country season, which can be voted on by the public here.
In addition, the Club will announce the Most Outstanding Athletes at the banquet, both of whom will receive scholarships.
