2024 Jerome Scales Southside 5M & 5K
Kick off the 2024 Grand Prix Series presented by Summit Coffee with Atlanta Track Club and the South Fulton Running Partners for the Jerome Scales Southside 5M & 5K on January 20 in College Park. Race through the beautiful College Park neighborhood and around Woodward Academy. This event is free and exclusive to Atlanta Track Club members. This event is named for former board member Jerome Scales.
ABOUT JEROME SCALES
Jerome Scales was a longtime member of Atlanta Track Club who served on its Board of Directors for seven years. Diagnosed with tonsil cancer in 2016, he died on June 20, 2019.
Jerome was a fixture in the Atlanta running community, spreading his love for running to anyone nearby. Even after he was diagnosed, he never let the disease deter him from running or from influencing others to do the same. He adopted the motto "one mile at a time," and focused on finding joy in the journey of running regardless of how far or how fast. Learn more about Jerome and Big Rome Running here

Course Information
Course time limit:
- 5M: 1 hour and 30 minutes (18 minute per mile pace)
- 5K: 1 hour and 15 minutes (25 minute per mile pace)
For the safety and enjoyment of everyone, no headphones, pets or wheeled conveyances of any kind, including roller/inline skates, and bicycles are permitted on the course.
Race Number Pickup/Registration
Number Pickup is only available race morning prior to the start of your event at the College Park MARTA station. Look for the string of red Atlanta Track Club tents and other signage. Number Pickup Opens at 6:45 a.m. Bring your check in pass (on your phone or printed) to ease the flow of Number Pickup.

Timing
Unofficial results available online the afternoon of the event. Results are made official approximately two weeks after the event, after all inquires have been processed.
Your timing device for this event is the Chronotrack single use B-tag. In order to receive an accurate time, please confirm your bib is...
- Clearly visible on the front of the torso
- Unaltered and unmodified (Do not fold or wrinkle)
- Pinned in all four corners
- Not covered (jackets, fuel belts, etc.)
Atlanta Track Club is a member organization of both the Road Runners Club of America (RRCA) & USA Track & Field (USATF) and adheres to the guidelines and rules of competition in the events Atlanta Track Club conducts & provides.

Virtual Runners
Those selecting the virtual race option will be asked to complete their race between Saturday, January 20 and Sunday, January 21, 2024. A virtual race submission link will be sent out on Friday before the event.
Results must be submitted by Monday, January 22, 2024, at 12:00 p.m. All virtual participant will receive participation points in for the Grand Prix series, but will not be eligible for the David Jordan Awards.
Athletes with Disabilities
In order to serve all our athletes, Atlanta Track Club offers opportunities for Athletes with Disabilities (AWD). If you are an AWD and interested in participating in Publix Atlanta Marathon, Half Marathon or 5K, please email awd@atlantatrackclub.org, to discuss what reasonable accommodations can be made based on your specific needs. Atlanta Track Club officials will provide reasonable accommodation to Athletes with Disabilities on an individualized and event by event basis.
MARTA & Parking
All participants are encourage to ride MARTA to the event. The race will start & finish on MARTA property. Present proof of your ride at the Membership tent to receive a Grand Prix commemorative item. Free parking is available on site at College Park MARTA. Click Here to find a station near you
Gear Check
Participants utilizing MARTA to travel to/from the event are invited to check gear at a special "MARTA Passenger Gear Check" located at the membership tent at State Farm Arena. Show your MARTA Breeze card and check your warm clothes for safe keeping until after the event. Open to MARTA passengers only. Those who show proof of ride will also receive a unique Grand Prix gift.
