Doug Shipman
Atlanta City Council president since 2022, Doug Shipman was previously president and CEO of the Woodruff Arts Center and for eight years was CEO of the National Center for Civil and Human Rights. Over time he has served on the board of a dozen nonprofits, including the Carter Center. Named six times by Atlanta Business Chronicle as one of the 100 Most Influential Atlantans, Doug earned a bachelor's degree from Emory University and holds master's degrees from Harvard University John F. Kennedy School of Government and Harvard Divinity School. He enjoys easy runs with his daughters along Freedom Park Trail and various 5Ks, as well as braving early-morning workouts on the BeltLine as part of marathon-training cycles.
